Interactive Medical Abortion Training Course

International Planned Parenthood Federation

Topics:

Pharmacy provision, Task sharing, Medical Abortion (MA), Self-administration

IPPF and How To Use Abortion Pill have developed a free online medical abortion training course for healthcare workers, including physicians, midwives, pharmacists, medical students and community health workers.

In their updated Abortion Care Guideline, the WHO recommends making most abortions, particularly early abortions, a simple primary care level service.

The guideline shares that medical abortion up to 12 weeks can be managed by a range of providers, including community health workers, pharmacists, midwives and pregnant individuals.

IPPF and How To Use Abortion Pill have developed video training to support this, focusing on supporting clients to access a medical abortion up to 13 weeks of gestation, including the safe self-management of a medical abortion.

The training is available for free in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese and Russian.

The course can be accessed from desktop or mobile and is structured to be an interactive learning experience, complete with quizzes and an option to download a certificate upon successful completion.

Access the course via the How To Use Abortion Pill website.
